As a community-based retailer it is important to us that we contribute to improving local life too. I am delighted that the College has won this award and will benefit from The Co-operative’s support which will enable the College to further build on its work to engage young people with key issues of healthy living, community, sustainability, environment and co-operation.

Students celebrated success in a national competition run by The Co-operative to recognise work to bring issues of sustainability and healthy living to life among students and the wider community. A commemorative plaque and £3,000 prize money was presented to the Eco-Group after judges were impressed by its focus on recycling; on local wildlife – including habitats for the honey bee and, Fairtrade. The College will use the prize money to further develop creative opportunities for pupils, staff and its wider community to explore issues of health, environment and sustainability outside the classroom.
